Jamestown, North Dakota (14,630) on Highway 281 is intersected with I-94 for the east/west travelers. The community of Jamestown is a few miles south of the Canadian Border. East of the State Capitol of Bismarck and due west of Fargo, (the states largest urban area).

The Jamestown Arts Center is operated by the Jamestown Fine Arts Association which has been promoting the arts in the Jamestown, North Dakota area for over forty years. Located downtown and serving around three hundred local members. A 2000 foot exhibition gallery, 400 foot stage and three classroom spaces. With one classroom dedicated to ceramics and kiln operations.
Jamestown Fine Arts Association also operates the Ila & J.A. Kirkpatrick Gallery at the Frontier Village in Jamestown. Each summer this gallery is operated by "The Artisans", a volunteer artists group.

Jamestown College is a private liberal arts four-year college which grants Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees. They offer over forty areas of academic and pre-professional studies. Established by Presbyterian settlers in 1883. Made up of around one thousand plus students from twenty six states and nine countries. Jamestown College competes in the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

The Stutsman County Park Board oversees operation of public facilities at Parkhurst, located at Pipestem Lake; Sandy Beach, located at Spiritwood Lake; and Jamestown Reservoir. Each park offers visitors a variety of sporting and recreational experiences.
Jamestown Reservoir offers year-round recreational opportunities on US Highway 281 ND. Including camping, picnicking, and wildlife viewing. (Located on one of the most-traveled migratory waterfowl flyways in the state.) The area attracts birdwatchers, boaters, fishermen, hunters and others.
