O'Neill, Nebraska population +/- 3,500. The largest permanent shamrock in the World, is here at the intersection of Hwy 20 & US Hwy 281. Made of colored concrete this shamrock is so large it can be seen with Google's Satellite View. O'Neill is the official "Irish Capital of Nebraska". Named after its founder, an Irish born American who brought three groups of people from Ireland to Nebraska during the 1870s. Enjoy some "Blarney". The word blarney has come to mean clever, flattering, or coaxing talk. - Source: Wikipedia®.

O'Neill Chamber of Commerce: O'Neill Country Club:
Of course I've found another golf course on Highway 281. A challenging and playable 9 holes at the O'Neill Country Club, located on the Northwest corner of town just off US Highway 281.
If your into Golf, from here in O'Neill, North-central Nebraska up to South-central South Dakota. There are at least 5 different golf courses for play, all of these are on or within close proximity to US Highway 281. How about all the golf courses on Highway 281 North to South, Canada to Mexico? Now, that could be a big research project. Any sponsors out there interested in supporting such a valuable endeavor? We might be able to make ourselves available, (grn).
